I apologize for the poor quality of the photo--impossible to photograph this spot! Looking down the staircase into the basement you can see our reclaimed wood wall made of salvaged flooring planks. But my favorite part are the height marks on the door jam. My grandfather did this for his kids and grandkids in his house, and I've always wanted to do the same in my own home.
