The calming, tranquil bathroom of your dreams is likely not as far as you think. You can hint at a spa-like look at home with just a few do-able details. “Do-able,” in this case, means three things: inexpensive, small, and easy to find at your local big-box bath store. Let these real homes show you how it’s done.

A “Side Table” Stool

Any footstool or tiny ottoman-like object will do. Add a pretty candle and some nice-smelling soaps.

A Few Plants

On a windowsill, the back of the toilet, or wherever they will fit (even hanging from the shower bar).

An Across-the-Tub Tray

Nothing says luxury quite like a bamboo or teak tray spread across the tub. Leave something pretty on it, like a wooden brush, bud vase or your favorite body wash.

Pretty (Re)Packaging

If your everyday products feature creative labels, leave them out for all to see. If not, repackage things like soap, body wash and cotton swabs into delicate bottles and jars.

Something “Room-y”

Finish off the bathroom with something un-bathroom-like. Coffee table books are always a great option.
